General FAQ GoldPriceOne

Answers to questions about GoldPriceOne, GoldPriceOneMobile, GoldPriceOne PLUS

What is the difference between GoldPriceOne and GoldPriceOneMobile

The main differences between the two apps are the name and on what kind of machine (device) they are running. While GoldPriceOne is made for macOS only, GoldPriceOneMobile is made for iOS and iPadOS (in compatibility mode). Depending on the place you live the GoldPriceOneMobile version (1.2+) can be used on macOS, too.

Do I need GoldPriceOne PLUS to use the app?

Actually, you neither need to subscribe to nor purchase GoldPriceOne PLUS to use the app. Basic functionality of the apps is free – and will ever be. However, GoldPriceOne PLUS gives you additional features (i.e. gold price charts, spread calculator, unlimited alerts, additional alert types).

Is GoldPriceOne PLUS only available as a subscription?

No, our PLUS tier is also available as a one-time purchase. This buy once, use forever gives you an lifetime license of GoldPriceOne PLUS.

We chose to offer both – subscription and one-time purchase – because some of our users simply didn't like subscriptions. But in our mind it's a descent idea to subscribe to PLUS for a month to try out the app and then switch to the annual subscription (20 % discount) or buy GoldPriceOne PLUS once.

What are the benefits of being a PLUS USER?

Well, there are some benefits coming with the GoldPriceOne PLUS plan. Take a look at free vs. PLUS comparison table. Most of all new and upcoming features will be available to users of GoldPriceOne PLUS only, while all general improvements and minor app enhancements are available for both, FREE and PLUS tier.

What currencies are available?

The apps support the currencies gold is usually traded in. These currencies are US Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), Pound Sterling (GBP),Swiss Francs (CHF) and Japanese Yen (JPY).

What languages are supported?

Both apps support English, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese. We'll add more languages from time to time if we find the time.

Answers to questions about the iOS app

iOS FAQ GoldPriceOneMobile

Can I install GoldPriceOneMobile on any iPhone?

Yes, you can install GoldPriceOneMobile on any iPhone as long as it is supported by iOS 18 or newer.

Is it possible to install GoldPriceOneMobile on an iPad?

Sure, you are able to install GoldPriceOneMobile on your iPad, but it has to be supported by iOS 18 at least.

Is an iPadOS version existing?

No, unfortunately there is no dedicated iPadOS version of GoldPriceOneMobile available. We're focused on the macOS and iOS branches of our app.

Can I use the iOS version on my Mac?

This one is a little bit tricky to answer. If you live outside the EU the answer is YES you can. If you live in a EU-Country (i.e. Germany, France, Spain, Italy and all the other EU member states) the answer is NO because of shenanigans (nobody knows exactly why!).

Why is the app called GoldPriceOneMobile?

It's called GoldPriceOneMobile accidentally, to be honest. But we thought it was a good name to make clear it's working 'on the go'.

What is the recommended iOS version?

We recommend to update to the latest available versions of either iOS 18 or iOS 26. Especially iOS 26.0, 26.1 and 26.2 are a little bit buggy and there might occur some strange behavior when using the 'keyboard'.

Why can't I set an alert or enter a weight?

In most cases this is a glitch within the iOS 26 matrix. In earlier versions of iOS 26 the keyboard behavior is kind of odd (not working correctly). If you run into this kind of problem the work-around is to send GoldPriceOneMobile to background and restart it by tapping the apps icon. The better way is to install the latest update of iOS 26, which solves the keyboard issue.

Answering questions about the macOS app

macOS FAQ GoldPriceOne

Can I install GoldPriceOne on any Mac?

You can install GoldPriceOne for macOS on any Mac or MacBook with an Apple Silicon CPU as long as it is supported by macOS 15 or newer.

GoldPriceOne says it can not connect to the internet, but I'm online?

This is a problem that might occur when you're using a firewall software (i.e. Lulu) that controls or blocks outgoing connections. GoldPriceOne needs to be able to connect to our API server to get data to show. If this connection is blocked or forbidden the 'not connected' error will pop-up.

Can I use GoldPriceOne while using a VPN-Service?

Usually, the answer is YES. But - and there is always a but - some services alter the information that is normally sent in such a way that the security mechanisms on our API server reject the connection and no data will be transmitted back to you.

Why looks the widget different on the desktop and notification center?

The widget, when shown in macOS notification center, is pretty colorful. However on the desktop it looks tinted in white or dark.

This is a system setting and can be changed by the user. Open your System Settings › Desktop & Dock › Widgets › Dim widgets on desktop to change it's appearance. You might also try System Settings › Accessibility › Display › Reduce transparency if you don't like the translucent look.

Answers to questions about the apps features

What is the spread calculator good for?

The spread calculator allows you to calculate a spread (discount/surcharge) when buying or selling gold or jewelry. It helps you to decide if it's a good, an okayish or bad price to buy or sell the physical gold for. This feature is GoldPriceOne PLUS exclusively.

Can I buy or sell gold within the apps?

No. You can't buy or sell gold within GoldPriceOne. Both apps, GoldPriceOne and GoldPriceOneMobile, are used to track (monitor) the price of gold, get some insights with current and historical charts, calculate the value of various gold alloys and being notified when the gold price exceeds your set limits.

Will the apps tell me when it's a good time to buy/sell gold?

No, of course not. Our apps don't give any financial advice. The apps are developed to give you informations about the price and value of your gold. You can set alerts to stay up-to-date about the gold price and how it's moving. But the decision to buy/sell/hold is always on you.

What Charts are offered by the apps?

Both GoldPriceOne and GoldPriceOneMobile offer charts for various time periods as 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, 3 months, 6 months, Year-to-Day and a 1 year. More historical charts will follow as soon as we've aggregated enough data.

Answers to questions about alerts

Alerts FAQ iOS and macOS

What types of alerts are offered?

The apps offer 4 types of alerts. There is an above alert (take profit alert), a below alert (stop loss alert), a moving alert (automatically renewing above/below alerts) and a tunnel alert (price corridor alert) to monitor the movement of the gold price.

What is a moving alert?

As stated above the moving alerts are self-renewing alerts for above/below alerts. Whenever the gold price breaks the limit you set you'll be notified and the alert will be renewed with the new price and the chosen percentage of movement.

What is a tunnel alert?

A tunnel alert allows you to monitor if the gold price drops below or rises above a limit. You can set the corridor from 0.1 % to 5 % above and below the current price. This allows you to see the direction the price may take.

How am I notified about an alert?

GoldPriceOne and GoldPriceOneMobile both use the notification center of either iOS or macOS. When starting the app for the first time you are asked to allow the app using system notifications - this is a quite important step. Otherwise you will not receive any alert notifications. You can set the allowance within system settings, in case you missed or accidentally 'canceled' the allowance.
